Light Bulbs - Save Energy, Save Money

Light bulbs can actually save you money! You may not have thought that light bulbs fit in well with your energy-saving plan, but if you choose light bulbs wisely, you may be surprised at what you save on electricity and on long-term costs. Long-term costs, such as replacing light bulbs, can have an overall effect on your budget, as can the sky rocketing costs of energy. First, when looking at bulbs, make note of the types of bulbs available. The most popular and widely used light bulb is the incandescent bulb. The incandescent bulb was the very first type of lighting availble and was invented by Thomas Edison. You can buy incandescent lights for ceiling fans, track lighting, tube shapes, and chandeliers. However, this type of light bulb is the least energy efficient.
Another type of bulb is the fluorescent light bulb, which is considered an energy saver. Fluorescent light bulbs come in both a tube shape and coiled shape for uses in businesses, office space, and a traditional socket for light bulbs. Halogen light bulbs are the most effective energy saving type of lighting for your home. Halogen lighting produces 50% more light than that of an incandescent bulb, but uses the exact same amount of energy. Halogen lights also last as 3 times as long as the incandescent bulb. As you shop for different light bulbs, think on a long-term basis. Look for life expectancy, which is technically how long the light bulb can be lit, and wattage. Halogen light bulbs have a longer life than both incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent bulbs.

Building Solar Panels to Save Energy

Solar energy can save you a lot of money if you build solar panels at home. Apart from cutting down expenses, you will also be contributing to the environment as solar energy is a healthy option. You can possibly power all of your house appliances with a solar energy system and you can build it at home. It is widely known that building solar panels is a much better and feasible option for most of the people, because it enables one to save even more cash. You will find a lot of items that are used in the construction of solar panels. You only need tools to put these things together and a few batteries to store solar energy.
If you go for readymade solar panels and ask someone to install them at your home then it will cost you too much. The solar panels available in the markets are ten times more expensive than the ones you can make at home and their installation cost will be high too. Basically some of the tools that are required for building a solar panel include plywood, thick glass and solar cells. You can watch online video tutorials to know about their installation and the best place to put these solar panels for maximum efficiency.

What Is CO2 Reduction Technology and How It Helps

CO2 is carbon dioxide - the gas that is emitted when fossil fuels are burnt. Since it is not possible to eliminate the use of fossil fuels completely, the Integrated Environmental Services (IES) has developed a CO2 reduction technology that breaks bond energy into two parts; graphite and oxygen. Here is a brief explanation of CO2 reduction technology and how it helps. What is CO2 Reduction Technology?Carbon dioxide is broken into two major components i.e. graphite and oxygen. This technology has proved to be a good fighter against carbon induced climatic change and environmental pollution. How Does CO2 Reduction Technology Help?If carbon could be reduced to its component form, not only will it help the climate but will also help the economy and industrial units of a nation.a. Better Climate The Earth's climate has gone through a drastic change in the past decade. Weather patterns have gone on the extreme and that is mainly attributed to the harmful gases being released in the environment. The world's population is rising at a rapid pace with increased reliance on electricity and vehicles based on fossil fuels have harmed the climate to a large extent.b. Healthy EnvironmentA healthy environment leads to healthy people who are eager to work towards a progressive economy. c. Economic GrowthThough fossil fuel is utilized for the world's leading mechanical devices, it is also responsible for the high level of crop production loss, natural disasters and numerous diseases that strikes people globally. While some suggest breaking up of components, others suggest storage of carbon dioxide. To curb harmful emissions, an amalgamation of technologies is to be used as this is a complex situation requiring high quality research and state of the art technologies.

Go Green for Kids: Going Green Is Not Just for the Adults - It's Critical for Future Generations

Here are three go green for kids ideas to consider:Educational Games about the EnvironmentThere are many educational games available on the Internet that teach the kids about the environment. Computer games these days are interactive and fun, and will keep the children amused for hours on end. Some games include themes such as as how to save energy, and quiz shows on various green topics such as reducing waste.Educational information delivered in an easy to learn format, and special sound effects and animation will keep the kids occupied. If you haven't already explored the joy of educational games on the environment, it's time to get some games for the kids. Having fun whilst learning is the key to educating the kids about going green and the environment. Going Green in Your GardenYou can teach the kids to go green by getting them involved in activities around the house such as growing a vegetable garden. Teach them to nurture and water the plants every day, and watch their seedlings grow into young plants. It can be a rewarding experience for the kids to nurture young plants, and harvest them as fresh ingredients for use in dishes at home. Going to SchoolRather than take the car out of the garage, starting up the engine and heading a few blocks to drop the kids off at school, consider cycling or walking them to school. Forget about getting stuck in traffic jams when driving your kids to school. The older children can look out for the younger kids, and make sure that everyone gets to school safely. There are plenty more ways to entertain and educate the kids about the environment.

Recycling Containers Can Assist Your Municipal Recycling Collection Program

One of the biggest impediments to a successful recycling collection program in public areas is the overall look of the recycling program itself. If the recycling program gives the impression of being cluttered, messy or dirty, then the collection, sorting and diversion rates decrease. The answer lies in your recycling bins. You will want to consider using recycling bins which are aesthetically pleasing and help ensure a clean sort. Recycling containers which are both decorative, pleasing and complement their surroundings can help set the tone for your recycling program. Choosing recycle bins which look great in a park or public place can really enhance the appeal of your collection program.
By simply adding a barrel topper with the opening of your choice (recycling circle, waste square, paper slot to name a few), you can convert your existing metal drums into functional sorting bins for waste and recycling collection.
The world of recycling bins has certainly come a long way. By implementing some of the new recycling containers available, you can complement any surrounding and give your collection program a clean and organized look.

Best Sources of Eco Friendly Alternative Energy

As our world population continues to expand, we continue to consume more non renewable resources in our fast paced and stressful lives. This includes paper, plastic, cans and glass. Do not drink bottled water, instead, purchase a re-usable bottle that can be washed and used again.
1. Recycle as much as you can. This includes paper, plastic, cans and glass. When a deposit is offered, return those items to receive it. Do not drink bottled water, instead, purchase a re-usable bottle that can be washed and used again.
2. Start to compost your kitchen scraps (not including meat and oils).
3. Drive less, purchase a vehicle that is more economical on gas or a hybrid vehicle. A vehicle that uses eco friendly alternative energy may qualify you for a government rebate or a tax break. In the summertime, hang your clothes to dry outside rather than using your clothes dryer. If it is available in your area, consider switching to natural gas for your home stove, dryer and heating needs.
 4. Look into the installation of wind turbines and/or solar panels. These are fairly easy and economical to construct and install. Eco friendly alternative energy producers, such as wind turbines and solar panels are no longer reserved for rural areas.

Innovating for Our Alternative Energy Future - Book Review

Indeed, as the coordinator for a think tank I always like to discuss alternative energy solutions with the our various members. You see, I am a free-market capitalist and I am looking for the most efficient alternative energy innovations and inventions to power up our new future. The name of the book is;
"Experimenting with Energy Conservation" (a venture book) by Robert Gardner, Franklin Watts Publishers, New York, NY, (1992), 128 pages, ISBN: 0-531-12538-6.
The author Robert Gardner was a physical science, physics, chemistry, and biology teacher in Connecticut. And he is very well known in the library books sector, "as the master of this science experiment books." Did you know it's all about the conservation of energy? If you can wrap your mind around such things, then perhaps you can understand why energy is so important in the world today, and why we are beholden to the laws of physics each time we devise a new method to convert, or generate electricity, or energy. Since efficiency is the key, conservation is also extremely important. Consider the conversion rates of solar cells and how important that is to our alternative energy future and you will begin to see why you need to read this book.
You can read this book in one sitting, 3-4 hours.
Please think on it.
